Penny :: Documented

Starting 2000 every 3 to 4 years or so I build a new PC. In 2000′ish it was Monica. In 2003 it was Hope. In 2006/7′ish it was Kayley. In 2010 it’s Penny. Sometimes I document the build process, most of the time though I just CBA. I guess that there has to be something special about the build for me to want to bother with any form of documentation, after all I spend so much time fussing about with computer hardware in my day job that it’s not really a novelty any more.

Well Penny is the first machine with which I’ve done SLI and water cooling. Yes I know neither of these are new concepts and people have been doing them for years, but for me it’s new ground and worthy of some documentation. (more…)

Hope :: Documented

I’m a gamer. I have been for a while. My first gaming PC was built quite a while ago. Originally assembled for use at some pretty cool LAN Meets. I bought myself the best system I could get, at the time, and it still works to this day. However with Doom III, Half Life 2 and Unreal Tournament 2004 all out soon I realised that I really need a new PC.

So three weeks before christmas I splash out and buy the best system I can get. (excluding the quad xeon I’ve been wanting to build for a while) (more…)
